It's Christmas Eve and I decided to crack open a new tin from Cornell & Diehl called Christmas Blend (Chestnuts Roasting) which is paired with my BriarBird Albatross Line Billiard and Briarboy tamper. "Chestnuts Roasting - The 1st C&D Holiday blend. Chestnuts Roasting has a delightful muted nutty taste on a lightly aromatic base. A hint of Latakia brings out the "over an open fire" part of the verst. Merry Christmas from C&D."
The tobacco is made up of medium and dark brown course cut Latakia and Cavendish that has a tin note of lightly sweet fruit and nuts. The moisture level is moist to dry, and after the first light, I get light puffy smoke and more saltiness than sweetness on the palate. At the time I was smoking a bowl of this blend in my cold garage, I was listening to Christmas music on iTunes and guess what was playing? Yup. Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire from Nat King Cole :)
This is an aromatic that doesn't seem like an aromitc--no goop inthe bowl and not much sugar coatings. It is a nice blend for the Christmas time of year!
